![]() I would imagine someone has cracked the security at some point. The movies are sent by hard drives sent through the mail, the HD's have security but when you think about 20,000 plus copies being out there and handled by high-school kids, someone somewhere is going to walk one out of the theater. Speaking of theaters, digital copies are sent via hard drive to theater chains (Source: I converted a large US chain to Digital between 2008-2010). Also talk shows, film reviewers, etc (you didn't think Jimmy Fallon pays to watch all of those movies, right)? There are literally thousands of copies of these movies floating around while the movie is being shown in theaters. Screeners are DVD (physical) copies that are sent to award-academy voters (like the Oscars) so they can review the films that are up for awards from home. Although cinema is digital these days, there is still a lot of physical distribution. ![]()
